HIGH TECH PARKING AT PENRITH

Another stage of sensor trials approved
PARKING in Penrith City Centre is set to go high-tech with the installation of a state-of-the-art parking management system.

At last night’s Ordinary Council Meeting, Duncan Solutions were selected as the preferred supplier for the system, which includes the installation of another stage of parking sensors.

Penrith Mayor Ross Fowler OAM said Council has already successfully trialled a similar parking sensor system in the Edwards Place car park.

"These have proven highly effective with more spaces turning over throughout the day, providing people with better access to local shops and services,” said Cr Fowler.

“We now have a number of other parking projects underway. The new car park being built at North Street, together with plans for more parking at Soper Place, will add over 800 extra parking spaces to the City Centre.

“Council is committed to the smart growth of Penrith, working to shape a city that is easy to access and get around, with a walkable urban centre, green spaces and parking that is conveniently located and connected to services and businesses. Smarter parking systems are one key element towards achieving this vision,” Cr Fowler said.
