Funds raised to be donated to the Ingham Institute to support research into critical disease areas. Officially kicking off the Autumn Racing season, the event will consist of racing and a two course luncheon in the Chipping Norton Dining Room.
Seven races will feature, sponsored by local businesses and philanthropists, with three races still available for sale.
The event program consists of presentations, a silent auction, a raffle plus an array of lucky door prizes. Speakers on the day include Professor Michael Barton OAM, Ingham Institute Research Director and Radiation Oncologist at Liverpool Hospital.
Liverpool Chamber of Commerce President, Harry Hunt OAM, said the annual event aims to bring local racing enthusiasts together for a fun day out on the track to support a worthy cause.
“We wanted to make the Ingham Institute our charity of choice this year to help them in their mission to improve the health of our local community”, said Mr Hunt.
Ingham Institute Chairman Terry Goldacre said that the event marked one of the most important dates on the South West’s 2013 racing calendar and encouraged the local community to get involved.
“On behalf of the Ingham Institute we are extremely grateful for the immense generosity of the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce and local Rotary networks in being selected as the charity for this year’s event,” he said.
The Ingham Institute’s focus of research is structured around the seven disease areas that impact the local South West population most including: cancer, cardiovascular disease, community and population health, early years (ie childhood diseases), infectious and inflammatory diseases, trauma and injury and mental health.
