“This is a landmark project," Mayor Grove said. “It sparks the emergence of an international centre within Holroyd; a centre for new jobs, events and international hospitality excellence.
“I often talk about building and strengthening our economy, but this project is just right off the charts. It gives rise to a future which capitalises on our existing cultural assets, including our expanding Sydney Murugan Temple."
The investment includes restoration of a traditional Australian heritage farmstead known as The Wattles to cater for smaller, more traditionally themed events.
"Incorporating the on-site heritage cottage brings a blend of two unique cultures on the one site," Clr Grove said.
"This project says a lot about the future of Holroyd, defying stereotypical assumptions about our community. It proves that the rich mosaic of cultures that make up our population can be harnessed to work for us and that the real challenge is for all of us to make the most of the people and built assets we already have.
“Holroyd is on the move. The market is responding to our disciplined approach of removing red tape for investors and we are seeing the results as Holroyd assumes its place as a vibrant and iconic centre, an attractive place to live work and visit.
“Bathla’s proposal brings the best of our diversity and creativity together, and provides the financial backing to restore our heritage assets.”
