Guests featured some of the country’s best thought leaders who will become panellists on the day of the Summit, including Small Business Commissioner Robyn Hobbs OAM, Federal Member for Mitchell Alex Hawke, Member for Baulkham Hills and Parliamentary Secretary David Elliot, She Business founder Suzie Jacobs, futurist entrepreneur Craig Rispin and Hills Shire Mayor Clr Dr Michelle Byrne.
The launch audience was treated to a taste of what to expect on October 8th at the Hillsong Convention Centre, Norwest Business Park.
Alex Hawke said: “the Summit looks set to become a very positive annual fixture as it offers local business people an opportunity to engage with policy makers.”
He said issues raised at last year’s Summit went directly to decision makers and some were among the red and green tape cutting measures now being implemented by the Government.
David Elliott said that with billions being poured into infrastructure in Western Sydney, including the North West Rail Link and, the Hills District showing some of the best economic data, there’s never been a better time to do business in the Hills and the Greater Western Sydney region.
Robyn Hobbs OAM pointed out that over 700,000 small businesses in NSW represent 96% of the State’s economy so the Government is committed to supporting them.
Futurist Craig Rispin caught everyone’s attention as he asked the audience to consider not how mobile phones have already transformed the world we live in, but what will be the next big transformation.
Craig predicted it will be “the Internet of Things” - but to find out more you’ll have to attend the Summit where Craig will be the keynote speaker.
With planned infrastructure for the region including the new Badgery’s Creek Airport, North West Rail Link, M9 and more, there’s no question the coming years will present some exciting opportunities for businesses in the region.
Sydney Hills Business Chamber Chairman, Tony Eades said: “The Small Business Summit for Greater Western Sydney brings together Chambers, networking groups, councils and local businesses and will kick start a GWS Small Business Month of joint activities, workshops and forums to develop a vision and plan for business growth over the next five years.”
