Straight from the Kyle & Jackie O radio show, shock jock Sandilands arrived on Tuesday at Westmead, rolled up the sleeve of his black T-shirt and received the first dose of the vaccine.
“I just want to go to Hawaii at the end of the year that’s why I’m here, and if getting this vaccination means we’re one step close to it happening, that’s a good thing,” said Sandilands.
“It's in everyone's best interest to get the vaccine. I'm vaccinated for everything else, and was as a child, and if we ever want to live a happy life and save people's lives and travel around and be normal again, this is just part of the process.
“It’s quick, you’re in, you’re out and then you’re safe. I don’t understand why anyone wouldn’t get it.”
The 49-year-old popular radio presenter has also urged residents in Western Sydney to get vaccinated because it will help “save people’s lives and travel around and be normal again.”
“These people are actual doctors and scientists, get the vaccine. Don’t be one of those anti-vaxxing losers,” Sandilands said.
Western Sydney Local Health District chief executive Graeme Loy said he hopes Kyle’s experience at the hospital will mean more people will get vaccinated soon as eligible.
“It doesn’t matter if you’re a breakfast radio host who wants to visit LA or a western Sydney local, everyone is urged to get their COVID-19 vaccination when they become eligible.
“Our health district and frontline staff have worked tirelessly to keep the community safe during the pandemic and now it’s the community’s turn to step up and get vaccinated.”
