Film submissions must be under 15 minutes and have at least one cast, crew member or location from Western Sydney.
Short films of any genre are welcome, including documentary, music video, animated films, drama, web series, sci-fi, horror and more.
All emerging and established filmmakers, actors, animators, video and documentary producers are encouraged to submit their work for the chance to win prizes and awards.

Four major awards will be presented on the night: Best in the West, Best Student Film, Best Music Video and the Audience Choice Award. Individual category prizes for Best Director, Cinematographer, Editor, Sound Design, Lead Actor, Supporting Actor, Screenplay, Original Score, and Production Design will be awarded to outstanding local artists.
Films are judged by a panel of industry professionals. All finalists will feature in the 12th annual screening with red carpet entry at Event Cinemas Liverpool, as well as reach a global audience as part of the summer-long online festival screening.
All are welcome to attend this red carpet event celebrating and uniting local filmmakers. Made in the West Film Festival will showcase Western Sydney on the big screen on Saturday, November25 at Event Cinemas Liverpool.
Since 2012, Made in the West has attracted over 400 short film entries made by filmmakers across the greater Sydney region and screened over 250 of them. Here are some statistics we have gathered about our entrants and finalists.
All short films submitted to Made in the West feature cast, crew or locations from Western Sydney.
● Submissions by residents from outside Western Sydney are growing (18.9%). This means that more cast, crew or locations from Western Sydney are being hired by filmmakers from the Greater Sydney region.
● Submissions by Blacktown residents feature prominently (16%).
● Submissions by Parramatta residents feature very strongly (11.3%).
● Submissions by Penrith residents feature strongly and have grown since last year (9.9%).
● Cumberland and Canterbury-Bankstown residents feature strongly (7.5%).
