A special way to celebrate Melbourne Cup

IF you have attended a Special Olympics fundraising event, you’ll know how much fun they are. There just seems to be a wonderful sense of joy, energy and enthusiasm that greets you as you enter the venue.

Melbourne Cup Day celebrations are one of many events held across Australia to support Special Olympics.

For the past few years, WatervieW in Bicentennial Park has been entertaining local business people and Special Olympics supporters as part of its corporate social responsibility program. This year, guests will be dancing in their seats as the venue presents Melbourne Cup with Motown flair!

Providing some of the entertainment will be Boys in the Band who will sing and dance their way through some of the best music of the 20th Century – including hits from The Jackson 5, Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons and the Backstreet Boys.

There will also be the Myer Best Dressed Fashion Awards for men and women along with a parade of new season’s fashions courtesy of Myer and hosted by celebrity fashion stylist, Caitlin Stewart.

With a sumptuous 3 course lunch which includes beer, wine and sparkling as well as sweeps, raffles, taxis on call, betting opportunities and live coverage of the big race, it’s going to be an action-packed day.

Most importantly, you will also be helping Special Olympics Australia raise funds to support its numerous programs for people with an intellectual disability.

Melbourne Cup Day registrations begin at 11.30 with business networking and drinks overlooking the gorgeous parklands of Bicentennial Park. Tickets are $130 per person and $120 for seniors. Tables of 10 cost $1250. For bookings or more information contact Fran Eustace at Special Olympics on 8116 9839 or frane@specialolympics.com.au
