Considered a state significant development application valued at more than $30 million, the proposal will be decided by the NSW Government.
Hills Shire Mayor Dr Michelle Byrne said Councillors were happy to support a proposal that would bring more medical facilities to the Sydney Hills.
“Norwest Private Hospital is a valuable community asset and this proposed expansion would allow the hospital to care for more residents in need of care,” Mayor Byrne said.
“It would require a significant investment of more than $30 million and that shows that there is a huge demand for medical services in the area.”
The proposed expansion would include the construction of a new three level west wing above the existing ground level car park, providing an additional 51 beds.
“This development would bring more jobs to Norwest Business Park and further boost the growing medical and health services sector.”
