The March 7 luncheon celebrated International Women’s Day and applauded the talents of the women in science at the Institute.
More than 200 female Ingham Institute supporters and scientists attended and supported the inaugural event.
Guests included Channel 9 Today Show Co-Host and Ingham Institute Ambassador Lisa Wilkinson as Master of Ceremonies.
Acclaimed Ingham Institute Psycho Oncology researcher Professor Afaf Girgis presented important findings from her women’s cancer research programs and iconic entrepreneur and speaker George Elliot also presented on the day.
Ingham Institute Hope Luncheon Committee member Lyn Ingham, daughter of the Ingham Institute’s Founding Benefactor Bob Ingham AO, praised the efforts of event sponsors and supporters, with special note given to major ‘Hope’ sponsor Narellan Pools.
“On behalf of the Ingham Institute, we are absolutely elated with the success of our first-ever Ingham Institute Hope Luncheon,” said Ms Ingham.
“Central to the event’s success was the generous support of our Hope partner Narellan Pools. Narellan Pools demonstrates true corporate citizenship and it’s fantastic to see an iconic business born out of the Macarthur region come on board to support such an iconic event.
“The funds raised from the event will go a long way to helping Dad’s vision of creating a healthier Australia come to life and assist the Ingham Institute’s research team in their mission to deliver new treatments across a range of critical disease areas including cancer, early childhood disease, injury and rehabilitation and mental health,” she said.
Narellan Pools owner Debb Meyer said that she was delighted with the success of the event and she was committed to improving the health and wellbeing of Australians as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) values.
