But AAA City Removalist prides itself on making the process as painless as possible.
The Greenacre-based moving company helps about 250 people move each week – from homes, offices and commercial buildings all over NSW – and has fast become the preferred removalist for government departments like schools as well as charities such as the Salvation Army and Anglicare.
Owner David Amaneddine says there’s nothing complicated about AAA’s rise to success.
“I genuinely care, that’s the simple secret to what we do,” he said.
And it explains AAA’s longevity in the industry – having survived 13 years in business, growing the business from just two trucks to eight in six months and now moving more than 10,000 people each year.
“Being harsh never sat well with me. I truly believe you can have a business with integrity and be genuine and I enforce that in all my staff,” Mr Amaneddine said.
“We’ve since grown to 40 plus specially equipped trucks and it’s all because I’m passionate about what I do.
“I’m very mindful that we are entering people’s homes so you have to listen to their needs.”
It’s that attention to detail that has led to repeat bookings, Mr Amaneddine said.
“We’re dependable, reliable and trustworthy,” he said. “And we’re affordable. When we started out people either paid premium companies or backyard companies. We created a niche, affordable class that serves people moving with just a few suitcases to mum and dad families and even celebrities.”
Mr Amaneddine remains tight-lipped on the latter, only saying the likes of footballers, celebrity chefs and TV personalities have entrusted their belongings to AAA City Removalist.
So, what tips does Mr Amaneddine have for customers ahead of a big move? “Get a good night’s sleep the night before,” he said and leave the rest to his professionally trained removalists.
AAA City Removalist offers a complete service – from furniture dismantling and assembling, disconnection and connection of utilities, packing and unpacking and relocation cleaning. They can even provide packing boxes and wrapping materials - and all at competitive rates.
It’s a job that requires military precision, Mr Amaneddine said.
“Some days I need to be a psychologist, a financial advisor, logistics operator and a weatherman. Sometimes I feel like an ASIO operative,” he laughed. “But I love people. I love their idiosyncrasies.”
AAA City Removalist isn’t just about serving customers. The business extends its support to the whole community by donating a portion of every booking to local charities.
“My ethos is ‘How can I serve’?” Mr Amaneddine said. “That is how I have always been.”
Which is why AAA City Removalist is sponsoring the Business Leader category at the upcoming Western Sydney Awards for Business Excellence.
“The old paradigm of business has changed and I love that we are seeing an awakening happening,” Mr Amaneddine said.
“New business leaders are taking the time to get to know their customers, care about them and find a solution for them.
“That’s how I operate and I’m happy to lead by example and set a benchmark for service.”
