Mr Dyer assumed the role of CEO of the then Parramatta City Council in February 2014 and during his tenure has guided Parramatta to become the growth centre of Global Sydney and its dual CBD.
Parramatta Lord Mayor, Andrew Wilson thanked Mr Dyer for his contribution to the City, saying he would leave big shoes to fill.
“Greg’s leadership over the past four years has been visionary and has brought great success for Parramatta. He successfully steered the Council through a complicated transition following the Local Government amalgamations in May 2016 and has overseen the emergence of Parramatta as Sydney’s Central City,” Cr Wilson said.
“Under his watch the $2 billion plus Parramatta Square urban renewal project has progressed to the point where all the major pieces are now in place and Parramatta has experienced a once-in-a-generation increase in economic growth and investment.
“His dedication to the success of Parramatta is to be applauded and on behalf of my fellow Councillors and the entire City, I wish him every success in the future,” the Lord Mayor said.
Mr Dyer said he was very proud of all the Council and its dedicated staff had achieved during his time as CEO and that the time was right to seek new challenges.
“When I look around Parramatta today I see a city on the rise and I reflect with pride on the role Council has played in this growth. We have attracted billions of dollars in public and private investment and Council itself has been at the forefront as the driving force behind key projects such as Parramatta Square, which when complete in just a few years’ time will be a thriving new commercial heart for the City,” Mr Dyer said.
“The transformation that has taken place in Parramatta during my time as CEO has been amazing, and I know that the City will continue to grow and prosper.
“I thank Parramatta’s Councillors, past and present, for the support they have given me. I would also like to offer particular thanks to all the staff of the Council, who have been integral to the City’s ongoing success,” Mr Dyer said.
Mr Dyer will finish in his role as CEO of City of Parramatta on 19 January and Council will soon start the process of recruiting his replacement.
