Entrepreneurs, investors and startups are encouraged to attend local accountancy firm Crowe Horwath’s launch of FoundX, a regional meet-up and business mentorship program, at The Hills Shire Council on May 17.
FoundX community manager Stephanie Trethewey said the initiative was an opportunity to support local businesses by offering them a platform to network and connect as well as hear from engaging guest speakers.
“From all our studies we know entrepreneurs love networking; it’s important to their growth and learning from other people’s journeys,” she said.
Denis McFadden will help launch FoundX in the Hills Shire by sharing the secrets of his success, having turned one Sydney hair salon into the booming franchise, Just Cuts.
“Dennis started out with a single idea and turned into an empire. Locals will be able to hear his story, his tips and chat to him,” Ms Trethewey said.
“This isn’t just a one-off event. We will host regular events with informative meetups, relevant guest speakers and the opportunity to network afterward. It’s part of our commitment to the Hills community and supporting local entrepreneurs.
“The Hills is a very high growth corridor with more and more businesses popping up so this is a really good opportunity to help grow the pie locally.
“FoundX is about growing the community at a grassroots level. We have our team already on the ground at Crowe Horwath.”
Simon File, lead partner at Crowe Horwath’s Norwest office, said: “We’re coming up to our 14th year in this community and we’ve had the benefit of working with a lot of businesses in the area, helping to expand their footprint.
“Our firm has an interest in the startup space and this event is about finding people with amazing ideas and giving them the support they need as well as top tier advice,” he said.
Hills Shire mayor, Dr Michelle Byrne, said council was delighted to host the first regional event in The Hills.
“We are proud of the integral role council plays in supporting local businesses, and excited to be collaborating with FoundX on this fantastic new initiative,” Cr Byrne said.
“When we work together, we are stronger, and what better way to take advantage of the opportunities our growing Shire will bring than with a regular meetup of local business minds.”
FoundX is a free event. The launch will be livestreamed on Twitter, twitter.com/FoundX.
