The infrasrtycure relates to Parks 945 and 1045 in Northwestern Sydney’s growing suburbs.
The projects at these two parks will see the upgrades of their gender-neutral amenities at the sporting grounds. The upgrade at Park 945 at Rouse Hill, is currently a playing ground for cricket clubs such as The Ponds CC, Kellyville Ridge CC, Galungara CC and Glenwood CC. The asking contribution for the project is $5 million.
Park 1045 is a new site in Sydney’s growth corridor, and while the total cost of the project is $20M, the asking cost for the upgrade is $5M.
It is proposed the projects would benefit those currently involved in a number of cricket clubs in Northwestern Sydney and inspire more children to get involved in sport locally.
Cricket NSW CEO Lee Germon said Federal Government support was crucial to infrastructure projects that have wide ranging benefits for the people of Western Sydney.
“The sporting community in Western Sydney have identified the enormous benefits that new and upgraded projects such as upgraded gender-neutral facilities in these parks would bring to the people in these areas,” Germon said.
“There are over 3,000 registered cricket players in these suburbs alone and those people deserve access to quality, modern facilities.
“The health and well being benefits from sport, whether that be cricket or at multi-purpose facilities, are undeniable and we call on the candidates in Greenway to commit their support ahead of the election on May 3.
“We’d like to thank those who have already shown interest in these projects and look forward to assisting our communities to make this a reality.”
The Parks 945 and 1045 upgrades are two of 23 community infrastructure projects across the state identified by Cricket NSW and Cricket Australia.
