The newest team in the Hyundai A–League, the Western Sydney Wanderers, broke records in their inaugural season claiming the Premiers Plate and securing a Grand Final appearance against the Central Coast Mariners.
Blacktown City Mayor, Councillor Len Robinson, presented the Keys to the City to Western Sydney Wanderers Executive Chairman, Lyall Gorman, Coach, Tony Popovic and the players in recognition of the club’s partnership with Blacktown City.
In the lead up to the Hyundai A-League Grand Final, Blacktown City Council encouraged businesses and community across the city to paint the town red and black in a unified show of support.
“Council is very proud of the partnership it has formed in providing a training and administration headquarters for the Club at Blacktown International Sportspark Sydney, which is now the home to nearly 100 Wanderers staff and players," Mayor Robinson said.
The Wanderers will return to the Sportspark for pre-season training in July.
