The marketing and business manager and SmallBiz Connect Program advisor received the award for Best Business Enterprise Centre Mentor in Australia at the recent Small Business Development Conference in Sydney.
It comes hot on the heels of Penrith BEC’s award in 2012 for Best Metropolitan Business Enterprise Centre in Australia.
Mr Todd told Western Sydney Business Access (WSBA) that he loved getting up each day to work in a job that, every day, allowed him to help people achieve their dreams - from the modest to the ambitious – while also providing him the opportunity to learn from the experiences of each and every client.
“I really do enjoy it. I pinch myself every day for the job I’m in,” Mr Todd, 27, told WSBA.
“It’s not very often you get a job where you can help people every hour, help a different person every appointment, from a sole trader or consultant to the owner of a business turning over several million dollars.
“To be recognised as the best is truly humbling and I am proud to have won this award as a result of helping clients achieve their business goals.”
Mr Todd said the BEC network around Australia was very strong, with more than 100 centres around Australia delivering services to small and big businesses.
He said the business enterprise centres in Penrith, Hawkesbury and Blue Mountains were all performing well and his office handled more than 800 face to face consultations.
"We all work hard to maintain our high level of service and each and every one of them are a part of this acknowledgement," he said.
The Centre offers free business advice under the SmallBiz Connect Program and AusIndustry, the New Enterprise Incentive Scheme and a variety of other programs and services.
Jackie Zelinsky, CEO of BEC Australia, congratulated Michael Todd on winning the award for the Best Mentor in Australia for 2013.
“I was delighted to see Michael Todd win this award. He is an exceptional young man – energetic and determined to represent the small business sector,” she said.
“He is well respected not only in his local community but in the broader national BEC national network.”
“Michael always goes beyond the expected and his enthusiasm is contagious. I expect that Michael will win many more awards on his way to being a business leader of the future.”
