The CBC, which has been operating for more than 25 years in the Fairfield-Holroyd region, has also announced a new board and a new vision. The board includes new faces and others who have served on it before.
“The new Board is a very dynamic and highly experienced team with a lot of energy and vision”, said Mr Hingston.
“This board is made up of a cross section of backgrounds from manufacturing and hi-tech industrial equipment to accounting and law, IT programming, pharmaceutical consulting, marketing, recruitment and education. The collective skills and many years of experience are a very solid foundation for our future."
The vice presidents are Peter Reeves and Michael Mourad and the treasurer is Jim Vass alongside John Howard, Dr Hugh McDermott, Ampha Mammone, John Miadineo and Peter Simonis. Renzo Valleri, a life member, past president and one of the original founders of the chamber, has returned.
Honorary positions are held by long-time chamber partners University of Western Sydney and South West Sydney Institute of TAFE, represented by Dr Wayne Fallon and Brian Mulvey respectively.
“We are very determined to engage even more with the local industrial sector. The Smithfield-Wetherill Park industrial estate is the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.
“Within half an hour of this hub you will find a number of other business clusters. The engineering and manufacturing sectors are not well represented and they are facing immense post-GFC challenges and pressures. Our vision is to become a real asset to this sector,” said Mr Hingston.
He says the Cumberland Business Chamber plans to launch a range of new initiatives designed to provide company owners and decision makers with opportunities to discuss business building ideas and experiences with their local peers, meet new contacts, identify potential local suppliers and customers, as well as learn about practical business building techniques and receive information which could have an impact on the future direction of their businesses.
