This year's National Manufacturing Week (NMW) will prove a rich meeting place for local businesses looking for new ideas, new capabilities and new strategies for success.
NMW (May 11 - 13) is Australia's largest, longest-running manufacturing event, bringing industry together to see, touch and discuss manufacturing industry solutions.
This year's event takes place at Sydney Showground - Sydney Olympic Park, located at the gateway to Greater Western Sydney, NSW's manufacturing heartland.
NMW 2016 will showcase hundreds of products and services from around the world, laid out in 12 Product Zones focusing on innovative capabilities in Automation & Robotics to Digital Manufacturing, Intralogistics, Advanced Materials and more.
Among dozens of firsts will be colourful, high impact packaging and printing from Cutler Brands, 360 degree product inspection from Adept Turnkey, materials handling systems from Magnet Sales and Millsom Materials Handling as well as next generation LED lights from LEDified that can help your business gain a competitive advantage.
One of the real advantages of being at NMW, says Richard Denmead, Director of Penrith-based dry ice cleaning business Cryonomic, is that you get to see many technologies in action, giving you a real-world insight into how they might help your business move ahead.
"With our dry ice cleaning technology, it’s important that we get in front of people to physically show how the machines work. Being able to see and touch the gear really does give you a sense of how a machine could help your business," Richard said.
"Beyond that, NMW is such a large melting point of industry that you just never know who you're going to bump into.”
Alongside its impressive showcase, NMW will also present a powerful seminar program, with industry leaders sharing new ideas as well as proven strategies for success.
Among high profile speakers will be Dr Keith McLean, CSIRO's Manufacturing Flagship Director who will outline some of the ways in which 400 Australian manufacturers are leveraging the national science agency's research to help them target high value niche markets.
CSIRO, says Dr McLean, stands ready to partner with more businesses to develop new products, processes and materials that can give local businesses an edge.
In the NMW Seminar Theatre program, Sam Bucolo, Professor of Design Innovation at UTS will share his passionate interest in Design-Led Innovation, the approach used by global brands such as Apple, Nintendo and Alessi to generate exciting product innovations.
NMW 2016 will also focus on emerging opportunities through its co-location with the Safety First Conference & Expo, Australia's one-stop workplace safety event, as well as Inside 3D Printing Conference & Expo, the Sydney edition of the world's largest 3D printing event. Inside 3D Printing will give you a first-hand look at how 3D printing is helping businesses engineer new products more quickly, locally and innovatively than ever before.
