Council builds on Singapore connections

A PARRAMATTA City Council delegation promoted the city and Western Sydney as key investment destinations to 500 attendees at a real estate conference, in Singapore.

Clr Lorraine Wearne (the city’s lord mayor at the time), council CEO, Dr Robert Lang and three senior managers attended the three-day annual Real Estate Investment World Asia 2012 Conference, at the Marina Bay Sands.

The conference brought together some 500 leading property developers, fund managers, institutional investors, real estate operators and corporate occupiers seeking investment in the Asia-Pacific region, Clr Wearne said.

“Council’s delegates were able to successfully engage and provide information to about 100 visitors to the Parramatta exhibition stand,” she said.

Cr Wearne said council was able to develop a database of 68 new contacts, 39 of which were potential investors.

Council CEO, Dr Robert Lang, delivered a 30-minute speech and presentation to conference delegates outlining Parramatta’s large development potential and its role in Greater Sydney, as part of the NSW government’s long-term plan for Sydney

“A platform has been created for return visits to Asia to build on the brand equity/awareness for Parramatta developed from this trip,” Clr Wearne said. “Council is now focussed on building on the gains achieved at the conference”.

Air fairs, accommodation, exhibition stand and fit out, and conference materials cost $79,822.
