NEW WOMEN'S NETWORK LAUNCHED

Cumberland's women business builders
CRAIG HINGSTON
CUMBERLAND Business Chamber has launched the Cumberland Womens Network (CWN) with a breakfast hosted by the Alpha Hotel at Eastern Creek.
The inaugural guest presenter was internationally sought-after communication expert, Vanessa Van Wyk, the founder of Binarix.

Vanessa’s focus is on understanding how the brain processes communication (phone, email and electronic) and refining communications to create an absolutely positive connection.

She also presented her story as a working mother, having started her business at the dining table 18 years ago and grown it to the point where Binarix is a global sales and customer service training company.

The event was well received by the guests who were treated to a gift bag of cosmetic and personal care products.

The next breakfast on October 10 is about health and wellbeing, given that this month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The presenters are accredited breast form fitter-specialist bra fitter-Cancer Foundation ambassador, Maria Silvestri, and clinical nurse consultant, Wendy Mullooly.

Maria has worked a lot over recent years with women who have had mastectomies. She will be talking about a quick 3 step breast cancer check which can be done in the shower.

Wendy helps heart attack victims with their recovery and said heart disease remains the number one killer of men and women in Australia. She will explain symptoms, preventative measures and dispel some of the myths of having a heart attack. Guests are being asked to wear something pink.

CWN will be making a donation from the registrations to The Cancer Foundation.

Chamber President Craig Hingston said the chamber is excited about launching this new networking group,

"We have wanted to provide a place for some time for women in business where they can be encouraged and inspired, form valuable friendships and learn smarter business building techniques from the experts. One of our members, Nicole Tavares, from Cobra1 Training at Wetherill Park, offered to become our CWN champion and this enabled us to launch it," he said.

To register (you do not have to be a member of the Cumberland Business Chamber) go to www.cbchamber.com.au

CWN is asking women in business to offer suggestions as to what they would like the network to focus on. You can leave your comments at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/3Y6V
