The Salvation Army’s Major Bryce Davies says the money raised will make a big difference for many Australians in need.
“This is a wonderful result – we would like to thank all attendees for their generosity and for giving hope where it’s needed most,” Major Davies says.
Over 160 people attended the launch, with media veteran Ron Wilson acting as the master of ceremonies. Entrepreneur Justin Herald was the keynote speaker at the event.
The Western Sydney Red Shield Appeal Launch is one of the key events in The Salvation Army calendar, cumulating with the Red Shield Doorknock, which will take place on May 26-27.
The Red Shield Appeal is The Salvation Army’s major fundraising event which helps fund the vast network of social and community services, helping hundreds of thousands of Australians get back on their feet every year.
These services include emergency housing for people in crisis, rehabilitation and treatment facilities, financial counselling, and a host of other social programs.
