The historic Parramatta Rivercat Ferry Service on the Parramatta River, which travels from Circular Quay to Parramatta, operated until 1928 and was re-established in 1993 by the then Minister for Transport, Bruce Baird.
“This vital service has served the communities along the Parramatta River for the past two decades. Since then, it has grown to be an important and popular tourist attraction and commuter service that draws thousands of people each year,” Parramatta Mayor Cr Chedid said.
“There is a great opportunity to improve this service so that it meets the needs of the rapidly growing communities along the River, including Drummoyne, Sydney Olympic Park, Rydalmere and Parramatta. We see it as vital to the continued development of Parramatta as a centrally connected city for the whole of Sydney."
